Making Pillow Rollers

Pillow rollers are soft fabric rollers that can be slept in I love them because I hate being uncomfortable and can’t find rollers in the size I want plus sponge rollers make my hair curl to tight and go frizzy so I can make them a large as I want.

They can also be thrown in the washing machine on a 30 wash so I love thing that are easily cleaned

This Pattern will make a medium roller if you use heated rollers it the same size as a medium heated roller.

Equipment

Fabric

Scissors

Ribbon (very thin)

Pins

Stuffing (I used a old pillow)

Cotton

Buttons (I use old shirt buttons)

Sewing machine or needle and thread

Instructions.

1) Cut fabric to size using a pattern i have very long thick hair so I made 18 rollers

2) Fold in half length ways and pin down the open edge and sew I’m lazy so I use a sewing machine.

3) Concertina one end pin and stitch

4) Turn roller inside out so your seams are now on the inside (I find using a pair of scissors to help to push the fabric back in on itself)

5) Now it’s time to stuff the roller I’m using the insides of an old pillow. First determine the middle point of the roller will be (I just fold it in half and mark it) Now take the stuffing and pack the roller till its half full. The roller should be soft but still hold its shape.

6) Make sure the stuffing is packed in and pin the half way point of the roller and stitch.

7) Now take the ribbon cut it in to approx 3 inch and form a loop

8) Insert the looped ribbon and pin in place and sew in place (I stitch it a few times for strength) I also taper the ends to make the look pretty but that’s just me.

9) Last but not least on the other end of the roller (the stuffed end) sew a button on.

Yes it looks a bit dodgy but works a treat

My 5 things I just cant live without.

OK well we all have our favourite products and essential we cant live without well here is mine.

My first product is a shampoo I'm quite old school and cant live without a bottle of vosene because my hairs long and thick if i don't blow dry my hair my scalp gets dry and chapped resulting in a bit of dandruff. I don't use it all the time as it does strip the colour dye out of my hair but i do use I quite often.

plus i really like the smell reminds me of being a kid as my mums away bought it.

My second is a Bandanna they can cover up a bad hair day (or for lazy girl day hair) or to complete my rockabilly style. This is my favourite one is my Diablo Jo's Dark Tea Tattoo Head Scarf is the best sized and shaped bandanna I have bought so far.

My third is a spot treatment Quinoderm this is probably one of the strongest spot treatments you can get over the counter and my god it burns but I've been using since i was 13 so my skin hardly reacts to it any more. In my teens i suffered with really bad acne which was on may face, chest and back and has left some scarring. It has cleared up but do occasionally have a hormonal break out so i still reach for this.

I tend to apply it of an evening so if my skin does go a little red it gone by the morning and i massively reduce the size and redness of a spot over night. Be warned it does take the colour out of fabric so use your old bedding the about of pillow case i have ruined is daft

My fourth is Barry M Eye Liner is my favourite eye liner its cheap, its matte black and I love the applicator perfect size and shape for me.

and my firth product is my favourite long wearing lip colour which is Super stay colour buy maybelline in 510 Red passion for the days I want a bright red plastic pout. I tend not to use it to often as it can be quite drying to the lip but its kiss and smudge proof so good for eating out

Happy New Year, The time for fresh starts and new challenge's

Well out with the old and a start to the new, I've decide to make some change to the new year lets say streamline my life just to make it easier to manage with getting my business back on track, being a mum to dilly von stink with another due in 3 months and trying to blog I'm going to take a more organised approach to this.

So blog wise I'm going to blog in a more formatted type way.
My aim is to blog 3 times a week at the least starting next week

Starting with:

Tip Tuesday - A tip i rely on in my everyday life and profession life which helps keep my make up fresh or keeps me organised

Thursday Tutorial - the title speaks for itself

Random Saturday - a random blog post about anything and everything

This is not all I'll blog about this is just my new year commitment. I'm also challenging myself to monthly task
so this month is an instagram challenge called Photo-a-day Challenge starting light nothing to time consuming.

January 2012 Challenge

Nail Rock ..................Let see how they fair

Nail polish only lasts a day on my natural nails it chips and peels I also don't like my nails painted when short but I got a set of Nail Rock in Leopard print in this months Glossy Box.

I'm a fully qualified nail technician so have had experiences with loads of different type of nail products such as foils and I used a product similar to these that Avon use to do a few years ago and they were quite good so we'll see how we get on.

You will Need

Your rock nail wraps (mine contained 16 wraps
Some acetone based remover (noting with conditioners in) I used pure acetone
Cuticle pusher
Scissors
Nail file

I started by making sure my hand were clean and gave my nails a good scrub removing any dirt and oil from the nail.

1. I then worked on my cuticles pushing them back and removing any stuck to the nail plate (be gentle you don't want to tear them just push them back)

*Tip if they really bad soak you hands in warm water to soften then push them back *

2. Then taking a grit fill remove the shine from the nail Plate

(just until you remove the shine this looks worse as my file sheds dust from acrylics)

3. I then remove the any dust and oil from the nail with acetone

4. choose the size for your nail

5. Position the wrap and check its in the right place before committing

*Thrifty Tip if like mine your nails are short before the next step cut the top off

and stick it back on the sheet try not to handle it to much*

6. I then take my hair dryer (it doesn't state this in the instructions but I found it helped)

7. Then smooth over with a rubber hoof stick or a cotton wool bud Checking all

edges are stuck down and not on the skin

8. Using a file run down the free edge of the nail to finish the tip of the nail

Application wise there are brilliant there easy to apply

They look impressive and very neat

I love the leopard print on short nails so far so good

And this is what was left over

Then with the left over little pieces I treated my feet while I can still reach

Using the same preparation as I did for my nails

Pick up the small piece of wrap with tweezers
Measure the width against you toe cut and round the edges
and apply to the nail the same as before.

Sorry I hate feet I'm not one for showing my toes

So I will Report Back and tell you how long these bad boys stay on xx

*****UPDATE*****

Its now the 16th December 2011

It only lasted 3 days on my finger nails which for a party or night out are fantastic.
They really are show stopping and a statement so I really recommend them.

But on my toes I'm on week 3 and they still look tidy neat there not lifting and I have clipped my
nails and filed them and there still going strong.
it may sound weird but I have still maintained my toe nails and cuticles, its also come in handy
as it becoming harder to reach my feet as the baby bumps getting in the way.

so highly recommended xx

Long haired lazy girl.........................Overnight curling

Sorry a little porkie pie this is the last post with rubbish pictures I forgot I had a Blog waiting in the wings.

My hair is very thick and long and take ages to heat curl, theirs to much to pin curl and wet sets turn it into a lions main so only tend to use heat to curl my hair if I'm going out. so to curl my hair more regularly I use this method

You will Need:

Curvy grips or bobby pins
Hair bobble
Setting lotion in a spray bottle (I use superdrugs own brand)
A Brush

BEFORE BED

I start with clean or day old dry hair

1. Take a U shape section at the front of your hair and clip away from the rest of the hair

(we'll deal with that later)

2. Put the rest of the hair in a very high pony tail

(think 80's Pineapple) so you have 2 section like this.

The front section i just roll up to keep it out the way I'll re roll it later.

3. Start taking small to medium sections and spraying with setting lotion
(remember this is lazy hair i just grab bits)
and roll in to an upstanding pin curl.

And pin securely with bobby pins

Keep working your way through the pony tail

TOP TIP: I pin all the curls on the top of my head so I can lay my head on any side without
disturbing the curl or my sleep.

4. I then take the front section spray with setting lotion
and roll it backwards away from my face.

5. I wrap my hair is a scarf just to stop the hair on the back and sides of my head from

becoming fuzzy from the pillow.

TIME FOR BED

6. time to hit the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Sweet Dreams

THE NEXT MORNING

Sorry not fully awake yet

7. Start removing all the bobby pins and the bobble

(I leave the front section pinned up till last)

8. Start brushing the curl main out

Till you are happy with the shape.

9. unroll the quiff section and brush in to the rest of the hair and shape.

its very early in the morning so pull a funny face.

and that's it Enjoy you day xxx

Just a little update on the blog happening

Well firstly i have a better camera so I will be uploading better quality images and may try some make up and hair vlog's it unlikely they will be talkie one as I sound terrible scouse on film but we shall see.

This leads nicely on to my next point if any one has any requests for looks or hairstyles please leave a comment about the look you want a step by step on or a link to a look and i will try and pick it apart and help you recreate it.

So some of my lovely followers may or may not know I'm expecting my second child in April 2012 which is all very exciting were yet to find out the gender of the PEA but I should find out on the 1st December. I'm not going to bore you on here about my mummy type issues as I understand for people without kids it all rather boring (i was once that person) but if you do want to keep up to date you can find all my mummy life on my A Pin up Mummy Blog which has all my family life type stuff and any baby type items I make.

Stop the press ......................News paper nails

You will need:

Some news paper

Scissors

A Opaque Pale Nail varnish

Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka (I used Vodka)

Base and Top coat nail varnish

Step 1. Apply base coat and two coats of your chosen pale nail varnish and leave them to dry completely.

Step 2. Once your nails are dry cut your newspaper and get the vodka

Step 3. working nail by nail dip nail in the vodka or rubbing alchol for about 10 seconds

Step 4. Remove and immediately press the newspaper firmly onto the nail and hold for a further 15 seconds then remove the News paper .

To leave it looking like this

Step 5. Apply top coat and leave to dry

i think i should of used a more opaque colour i normally use a white but it had gone thick Ooops

Lilly's everyday make up

my every day make up is a classic pin up look still stronger than most peoples day make up but this is how i roll.

I used

ELF Primer
ELF HD Powder
HD Brow kit
Foundation
Cream, Light Brown & Dark Brown eyeshadow
Mascara
Black liquid eyeliner
A pink Blush
Red lip liner
Red lipstick

Start with a Clean moisturised dry skin and apply primer.

1. I apply my foundation and set with HD Powder

2. Then apply a cream eye-shadow to the entire eye lid to the brow bone

3. Use the Light Brown and apply to the crease of the eye then using the dark brown use to

conture the outer edge of the eye working inwards slightly.

4. I use Barry M Black liquid eye liner with a winged line.

5. Suck in the cheeks and apply blush lightly to the apple of the cheeks

(be careful not to go to mad)

6. Using the HD brow kit I fill in my eye brows to a strong define brow

7. Using a red Lip liner line and colour in lips

8. Apply red favourite lipstick mine is Mac Russian Red or OCC Lip Tar.

9. Finish with loads of mascara

1. I take a section of hair at the front of my head

2. wrapping it round my fingers then rolling it down like a up standing pin curl.

3.cross over bobby pins to lock them and secure the roll

4. pick your favourite bandanna mine is this one

from the wonderful Diablo Jo I have a few from her and their the best shaped
head scarf the just fit perfectly but this is today's choice out of my collection

Nanna's Tip the secrets in the larder

These quick finds for old fashion beauty

More random beauty tips my Nanna's gave to me and some i still use. x

Lard/Trex & Sugar Hand scrub

Basically you take a knob of fat lard or trex add a spoon of sugar and rub hands together like with any normal hand scrub. Then adding some soap to remover the fat and extra oil was hands leaving smooth and soft.

Vinegar hair rinse

I like me you suffer from greasy hair and a dry scalp (especially at the back of my neck) this is something i still do today and always does the trick.

Take a 100ml to 200ml (more the longer and thicker your hair) of white vinegar in a jug when off for a shower after wash your hair just before you get out fill the jug with water. Then use the water vinegar mix to rinse your hair making sure you get it through to the scalp.

you can then rinse it again under the shower if your worried about the amount of vinegar in your hair.

i know what your thinking you'll smell like a chip shop once your hair drys the smells goes.

Mayonnaise hair mask

Well what can is say, apply like a hair mask wrap pop shower cap on or a bag then wrap a warm towel leave for maybe 15 min the longer the better I usually last 1 hour then wash and shampoo to get rid of the excess oil and smell. Dry and style as usually and enjoy you glossy locks.

Aspirin spot treatment

Aspirin contain silica acid which is found in most spot fighting treatment. I'm not sure how my nan knew this but she did. Take an aspirin and crush in a bowl add a small amount of water to make a paste and apply to the spot for 5 mins then wash away.

Oats bath milk

This was used a lot on me as a child due to having dry skin on my legs and I'm used it on my son and I'm using it now to help me through pregnancy. Take and old stocking or piece of cloth and fill with oats to make a little drop bath bomb keeping the oats from getting into the bath and throw into the bath of running water. You'll notice it starts to cloud the water which is what you want after you bath full take you bomb out and give it a squeeze and discard. Get in and enjoy x

Halloween Preparation

The day before Halloween me and my little family always spend the day our carving pumpkins.

so my 3 year old son Dill decided he wanted to do jack from nightmare before Christmas I saw a Frankenstein one I loved the look of and as always the husband Chris picked a skull which I knew he would pick.

Lillys Night out make up and hair

as some of you know I'm a mum of a 3 year old and have another in the the oven due in April so my social life if minimal, but this is how i like it and my best friends the same so it suits us fine to plan a good night out once a month so last night was a night at the burlesques.

so i started with clean dry hair and freshly cleaned skin.

How my hair starts very long and thick so getting some shape into it

I used on my hair

Babyliss heated rollers
Superdrugs own Setting lotion
a empty spray bottle
rat tail comb (for section)

i start by sectioning the top and using large rollers on this section to give me
some height plus my layers are shorter here.

I then divide that into roller sized sections and spray the length with the setting lotion and rolling the rollers

back across the top of your head

(I have tried wet and damp sets many times and my hairs to course)

Then working in section on the side roll the rollers under

Like so..........leave till the rollers are cold.

My Make-up for tonight is a vampy purple look as I was wearing a black dress and my hairs black

and it is coming up to Halloween so sort of a morticia addams looks than my

usual pin up make up.

I used

ELF Primer
Stay matte foundation by Rimmel in ivory 100
ELF HD Powder
a Cream, Light Purple, Dark Purple and Black eye-shadow
Black eye liner
Pink Blush
Red lip liner
OCC lip tar in red

Start as always clean moisturised and Primed skin as always I used ELF primer.
i applied my foundation and set with powder

I also Used Benefit Lemonaid eye primer

(the only thing with is eye primer it does crease if you leave it so i don't put it on
till I'm ready to apply eye shadow right after)

1.The first colour i used was a cream all over the lid and brow bone as my base

then choose a light Purple and used in the crease of my eye and blended upwards.

2. Then using a dark purple i blended that in the crease line to deepen the socket.

I the used a black eye-shadow to the outer part of my eye blending that into the
purple then ran a little to the bottom lash line.

3. Take a clean fuffy brush and went over making sure i got rid of any harsh lines.

4. Taking the same cream i used as a base i applied to high light the brow bone

and the middle of my eye lid.

5. Using liquid black eye liner and lined and winged my eyes.

6. Fill in eye brows and apply blusher to apples of cheeks i used a very pink toned colour.

I leave my lips till last as I normally smug my lipstick.

So I moved on and started my hair.

I start unrolling my hair and brushing out each section as it comes out feeling crunchy

As my hair so long I'm not able to get a tight curl but I gives me some height and body.

I then lined my lips and filled in with my favourite OCC Lip tar in a red and
worked in a little black to vamp it up a little not to much just
enough to deepen the red to a blood red.

Then time to get dressed x x

Halloween Make up 'CORPSE BRIDE' tutorial

This is from one of my favourite animations Tim Burtons 'the corpse bride' it such a fun look

I Used:

ELF Primer
White & Blue Snazaroo face paint
ELF HD Powder
Black Eye Pencil
Eyeshadow in Light Blue and Teal blue
False Lash's
Pink Lip liner
Pale Pink Lipstick

As always start with clean dry moisturised skin and apply primer i use ELF Primer.

1.Mix the white and Blue snazaroo to a very light blue i made it a watery consistency as i didn't want

it too face paint looking. if you haven't got face paint use a really pale foundation.

( if i was going out for Halloween i would also cover my neck and chest)

2. Set with powder i used ELF HD powder

3. Using a blue eyeshadow suck in your cheeks and find the hollow and apply the eyeshadow

so it and sunken look.

4. Take the teal eyeshadow and apply it to the eye lid then use

Then blue eyeshadow to contour and deepen the eye socket.

5. Next fill in and contour your eyebrows to the very cartoon shape just like the corpse bride

well after all this is a cartoon.

6. Apply Lashes to the bottom lash line giving you a doll eye look.

7. Then apply lash's to the top lash line.

8. Draw the corpse bride signature exposed jaw i used a eyeliner pencil to draw the shape

ans i painted in the teeth with white face paint.

9. Line and fill lips with a pale pink giving yourself a slightly over sized pout

My Brush cleaning secrets

Working as a make up artist my most prized procession are my make up brushes. i have lots of different brands and in very different price ranges but the main thing is they do their job and last the distance. Some of my brush are a few years old and have gone through this cleaning process a lot

I'm not a massive fan of brush cleanser sprays as i love nothing more than using fresh clean brushes but if I'm on a big job and haven enough brushes a brush cleanser spray is needed.

I use elf Daily brush cleaner when i need more uses out my brushs on big shoots.

But how i clean my brushs for a deep clean

1. I use a baby shampoo or washing up liquire and a few drops of

macidania oil as i dont want it to dry out my brushs. Dip the make up brush

into the cleaning solution.

2. After picking some solution on your brush rub it back and forth on your hand to loosen

the make up from the brush and to get the cleaner trough the bristles. I work my way through

all my brushes then I'm ready for the next stage.

3. I then grab a bath towel and fold it in half and place it somewhere flat and start rinsing my brush's

4.when rinsing your brush i have the water warm and hold the brush pointed down so the water doesn't

run back into the barrel of the brush, moving the bristles round making sure i have rinsed all the soap and make up out. Then still pointing own i gently squeeze the water from the brush and lay them on the towel.

5.I always rinse my big brushes then i will fold the towel over again and then wash my smaller brush

*make sure all your brush point the same way*

Second layer of brushes

6. once all the brush are clean i roll the towel into a roll remembering which way the brush's are facing.

7. I then wrap a elastic band round to keep the brush's in place.

Then i put it on the radiator brush still pointing down so any water cant run back into the barrel of the brush

and leave the heat to dry them. *as long as there not in direct contact with the heat they are fine*

And thats it wait till they dry

Halloween Make up 'REPO BLIND MAG' tutorial

I Love the film REPO! The Genetic Opera and one of my favorite character is Blind Mag

Repo! The genetic opera is exactly that's an opera its a very random film don't as why i love it some much but i do.

Even if you don't know anything about the film this make up look can be used for many Halloween looks
its just a very goth dark make up look.

I Used:

ELF Primer
A pale foundation
ELF HD Powder and Lemon aid Eye lid primer
Black Eye Pencil
Eyeshadow Black, Hot Pink & A Dark purple
False Lash's
Lip Liner in deep red
Red Lip Stick

As always start with clean dry moisturised skin and apply primer i use ELF Primer.

1. start by creating your base I used a pale foundation and set with ELF HD Powder

2. I prep my eye lids with benefit Lemon aid eyelid primer.

Then using a black eye liner Pencil I coloured my eyelids in and lined under the eye and the water line.

3.You can use your finger to smug the pencil to cover the eye lid and get rid of any harsh lines then

Darken and soften with black eye shadow over the top

4. Next take your hot pink eyeshadow and blend it out working it into the black and pulling the colour

down onto the cheek and onto the brow bone.

5. Using a clean fluffy brush blend and hard lines

6. Using black eyeshadow i darkened and defined my eyebrows.

7.I used my larges set of lashes on my bottom lash line.

8. I then used two sets of lash's on the top lash line

9. Line lips to the fullest and fill with your chosen red lip colour

I used OCC Lip tar in NSFW

and then Used OCC Lip tar in Clear mixed with black eyeshadow to

deepen and define the lip

Halloween Make up 'SUGAR SKULL' tutorial

It Halloween week well it is for me and my family. So it gives me the excuse to play with my make up box so to start the week with a sugar skull make up look.

I used

Elf primer
Snazaoo white face paint
Elf HD powder
Pink, Purple, gray and black eyeshadow
A black eye pencil
Make up Brush's

As always start with clean dry moisturised skin and apply Primer I'm using one by Elf.

A clean and fresh faced Lilly

2.Using a black eyeliner plot were your eye sockets are going to sit.

3. Using Snazaroo i covered my face and set with Elf HD powder.

4. Using my black liner pencil i thickend and darken the line ready to fill in

with my chosesn eye shadow.

5. Fill in the eye sockets with eyeshadow and draw a triangle on your nose and

colour it in a solid black.

6. Then start plot the start of the spiders web on your forehead with a black eye liner pencil.

7. Using a gray and black eyeshadow go in and add shading to the spiders web.

8. Draw some petal detailing around the eye sockets and choose another

colour eyeshadow and fill in.

9. The choice is yours here i choose to add colour to my lips but you don't need to i just used the same pink eyeshadow i used to colour the petals around my eyes then with black eyeliner draw in the jaw line.

10. Then line the jaw line then i added a heart to my chin and filled it in with the purple eyeshadow.

11. Now decide what to do with your hair i just let mine down fluffed it up parted it on the side and used some hair flower i had and added them on one side.

Simple Cinder Toffee Perfect for Halloween and Bonfire Night

You'll need:

100 g sugar
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
A Large, heavy based saucepan
1 heaped teaspoon of Bicarbonate of soda
Line a tin with grease proof paper

Start with a heavy bottomed Pan

Pour in 100g of sugar

Then add 2 tbs of Golden Syrup

Mix the sugar and syrup together with a wooden spoon in the saucepan.

Place on the stove on low heat until the sugar is melted for about 10-15 minutes. Till it has a runny texture

Turn the heat up a little and start to make the mixture bubble, Swirl the bubbling contents of the pan around from time to time but constant stirring isn't necessary.

Once the sugar is all melted, take the pan off the heat, add the bicarbonate of soda, stir to mix and watch the mixture froth up.

Pour the mixture into a tin lined with foil and then put the saucepan IMMEDIATELY into soak (take care, saucepan is hot).

BE CAREFUL I Burnt my finger its HOT

Leave toffee to cool then break into chunks and enjoy

Perfect Sugar rush

Sweet corn bread

This post is all the fault of my good friend Betty Bee who is currently on holiday in good old USA posting picture of pecan pie so had to bake something to satisfied the craving and this is quick and easy and very tasty.

To make sweet corn bread to make approx 12 servings

Ingredients

125 g all-purpose flour
120 g yellow cornmeal (Tesco sell it)
135 g white sugar
6 g salt
15 g baking powder
1 egg
235 ml milk
80 ml vegetable oil

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray or lightly grease a loaf tin.

2.In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in egg, milk and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour batter into prepared tin.

3.Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Can be made in muffin tins for lunch box's and drizzled in icing or maple syrup while still warm Lovely

For a very long time i have been toying with the idea of having blunt bangs or fringe cut in but after many of my childhood years of dealing with growing out bad fringes its been a difficult decision. Then all my prays were answered the fake fringe came along or so i thought. I then spent time and money buying different ones and them not looking right so i gave up and used the hair rat method instead.

I do love this look with the hair rat but i want something quicker and due to the damage from having a white streak in the front some of the hair is very short due to breakage.

Then the other month i was shopping and was looking in one of the local hair extensions shops and i found this

Yes i know what your thinking it not blunt but it wasn't the fringe i liked it was the fitting. it cost me £6.99 which isn't bad and its synthetic hair but it was really good quality. so i was brave enough to cut it myself but you can take them in to the hair dresses and ask them to do it for you.

for some reason the photo make it look brown its not its black

Then when i fit my fringe start buy taking the front section were my fringe should be and comb it over to one side securing with two crossed over bobby pins or curvy grips and just clip the rest of my hair back out the way like so.

Then when attaching the fringe i clip down the top clip so the fringe sits in the were I'm happy then i clip the two bottom anchor clips in place.

Yes looks a bit strange like this

then with this fringe you cant see the join so you can just unclip you hair or tie in a pony what ever you fancy, I like to wear on of my head scarfs this is one of my favourite Vivienne westwood one's

And that's it all done and when the day is over i just unclip it and carry on. xx

Chamomile tea bag facial steam

You will need:

A bowl sutible for boiling water

A Towel

A Chamomile Tea bag

1. Prep your skin for steaming by removing all traces of make up and cleansing the skin of dirt

2. Boil the kettle and pour into a large heat safe bowl. Throw in a chamomile tea bag and let the tea bag sit for a few minutes for the chamomile tea to gradually release into the hot water.

3.Take your hair away from your face i use a hair band anything to stop it sticking to my face.

4.Place your bowl on the edge of a table and set a chair in front of the bowl. Make sure it is enough distance for you to lean into the facial steam. Sit leaning forward in front of the steaming bowl.

5. Use a towel to place over your head and above the facial steam to make a tent. If its too uncomfortable , wait for the water to cool until it is a manageable temperature. Remain over the bowl for 15 minutes.

6. Rinse your face with cool water to close the pores.

I am delighted to introduce my next guess blogger the beautiful and very talented FANNY DIVINE Manchester based burlesque performer, model and promoter of the Carnival Divine in both Manchester and Chester.

And one woman cupcake cake and cake pop making machine.

What’s in my make up bag?

For the face I use the following:

Foundation: I usually use MAC Studiofix foundation but have recently given a new one a try called Paul & Joe light cream foundation. It's a bit lighter than MAC and I was recommended it by a vintage beauty salon in London. It's a good day to day foundation but not as matte as MAC (which I like in a foundation.) I think MAC works great for my stage make up and Paul & Joe for day to day. You can get it from The Powder Room in London or from Harrods and it comes in a gorgeous vintage style bottle (that's what won me over really!)

Concealer: At the moment I'm using Erase Paste by Benefit. Not sure whether it's the best one I've used so far though, I think Touche Eclat still works the best for me but sometimes I like to mix up my make up and give something else a try!

Powder: MAC mineralize skinfinish natural powder in light. It gives a lovely smooth matte finish.

Blusher: NARS 'Outlaw' blusher. This lasts forever!! I've probably been using the same one for 4 or 5 years!

On my eyes:

Eye shadow: At the moment I'm using a Rimmel trio of eye shadows in brown that I recently bought. I use quite a light natural colour all over my eye lid up to my brow bone and then a darker brown on the top of my eye lid. I also love Chanels special edition 4 colour eye shadows they release every Christmas and have used a gorgeous one in purples for the last few years called 'Vanités.'

Eyeliner: I switch between using my MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack for stage for a more dramatic eyeliner look and Rimmels Glameyes for my everyday eyeliner for a slightly more subtle 1950's look.

Brows: Rimmel eyebrow pencil. This was a recommendation I got from Missy Malone – have you seen her fabulous eyebrows?!

Mascara: MAC Opulash – gives gorgeous big curly separated lashes. What I find most important in a mascara is that it doesn't give you clumpy spidery lashes, and this one definitely doesn't.

On my Lips:

Lip Liner: Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner.

Lipstick: MAC Ruby Woo – I was searching for the perfect red lipstick for years and when I tried this I felt

I'd finally found it! I like my lipstick to be really matte and stay put all day and this definitely does both those things.

Day to day my look is quite classic 1950's, make-up wise. On stage I do like to experiment with slightly more dramatic make-up and eyelashes to make sure it really stands out.

So who am I? I am a married Mum of one little boy affectionately named

'Beastie' and I work part time as a nurse. I blog about anything that takes

my fancy from the obvious, my son, to rants (my fave), beauty and fitness

and product reviews. My blog is evolving day by day and I am excited to

see where it might take me.

Wedding Belle

So it's wedding season again and this year we just have one to attend, I do

like a good wedding but let's face it it's much kinder on the purse strings to

have just one on the calendar and it means I don't have to find more than

one outfit. I would hate to be seen in the same dress a few weeks later at

another gathering, attended by a similar crowd! A wedding miles from

another is a different matter, you can get your money's worth there and

recycle, no one will ever know....

I am off to attend a wedding next Friday and due to a couple of things to

consider I won't be wearing what I have have planned for the last month.

Yes that is slightly worrying seeing as it's now less than a week away.

Having said that I have bought an outfit by the skin of my teeth the day

before a wedding once and my husband bought his new suit on the

morning of said nuptials. Of course we were late but that had nothing to do

with our frantic last minute purchases. Put it this way, I am punctual and

my husband is not.

We went to a wedding last year which coincided with a case of

conjunctivitis. It was possibly the worst it could be, watering like crazy,

puffy and noticeably smaller than the right. I remember looking in the

mirror thinking how attractive I looked and thinking back to the advice

friends had given me "don't wear makeup and throw away the mascara and

eye liner you have been using'. All this to avoid aggravating my eye...but

what about the cost of my makeup? It's certainly not high end expensive

but not exactly disposable either.

So what do you do when you have a noticeable flaw? you try and

compensate in other areas. So I tried my best to look glam and

accessorised my hair with a pretty flower, to avert eyes from my not so

pretty eye. I also ignored all advice and wore makeup on that eye,

whatever happened I would deal with it later. It was both sunny and windy

that day so the sunglasses were out in force (as they always are), perfect

for shielding eyes from the sun, a squinty eye from others and some

unexpected gale force winds. This involved me sitting in the car whilst

people were congregating outside the church after the ceremony as my eye

was streaming. Of course I didn't look rude at all. The groom even asked

me if I was okay in the church as I kept dabbing my eye constantly (I

certainly didn't know them long enough to warrant crying). the plus side

was that my husband let me drink that day, obviously out of pity, it was his

friends wedding so the designated driver would have usually been me.

Come to think of it, he was probably more concerned about my one eyed

driving skills...

Back to the present day and the absent outfit, I am not getting worried,

something will crop up. These situations usually have a way of working

out, failing that an old outfit *shudder*. Anyhow fingers crossed I will be

bright eyed and bushy tailed next week and won't have to worry about my

face. This will be the second wedding that we will take our son along to, to

say he was horrendous at the first one would be an understatement, so

hopefully this year will be different. I can forget about the clutch bag

though, no one carries light with a toddler in tow...When all said and done

I will have my sunglasses, pearls, perfume and corsage and will hopefully

feel glam (here's hoping).

Tint, Tint ..................Is all abit Gray

There are many reason to tint you eye brows i do mine because there so dark and their starting to get grey hairs not a good look.

Start by removing all makeup. I always use witch hazel to get rid of any remaining makeup and oils.

You will need.

Tint in the colour you want (mine is Black)

Oxidant (lash & Brow tint Developer)

Tinting brush or application stick

Glass bowl

Procedure:

1. Squeeze ¼ inch of lash tint into pigment cap or small glass or plastic dish.

2. Mix 3 drops of Oxidant, stir until creating a smooth paste.

3. Cover eyebrows with tint paste using wooden applicator sticks or I use a tinting brush, try keeping it neat without touching the skin around. Wipe off any tint touching the skin with a moist cotton bud.

4. Eyebrow process time: 1 to 2 minutes then check your colour, can always re apply.

5. Re apply if needed (my brows are black so i leave it a little longer to cover the gray)

6. Clean off tint with warm water

7. Finish cleaning brows with witch hazel removing all residual chemicals.

No more grey Eyebrow hairs

All done.

Disclaimer Like all dyes it’s important to do a patch test 24 hour before use and if your unsure get them done by a professional.

Hair Repair...............................A quick Treantment

A quick and easy hair repair for while your do other things.

All you'll Need is

A hair mask deep conditioner (i use Osmo intensive deep Repair Mask)

A Shower Cap

A Towel (Big enough to wrap your hair in)

Wash hair as usual and towel dry.

Apply a generous amount of Mask from root to tip

Throw over your shower cap

Then

Find a way to warm your dry towel if the heating on throw it on the radiator to warm up

or as i do throw it in the dryer while i have a shower.

Put the warm towel around your head turban style and let the heat work its magic.

leave for as long as possible but at least 10 minutes and rinse with warm water.

if you haven't got a hair mask you may have an alternative in you cupboard

MAYONNAISE

yes its brilliant as a hair mask ifs full of oils and protein
only down fall it does small as pleasant when its rinsed and dried the smell goes.

Ok this week I will be blogging my entire beauty routine from eyebrows to my skin routines

My eyebrow in their natural state is a mono brow ye not a good look but I they are never allowed to re grow to that state.
Just this

So eye brow shapes there are 5 main shapes

Face Shape: Best for oval & Round faces

Before I start plucking I first clean the area I tend to use just some witch-hazel just to get rid of any oil from the skin and stop any dirt getting into the open hair follicle.

You will Need:

A mirror one with a nomal and a magnified side

A good pair of twezers (a type toy happy with) i have an angled pair and a sharp flat pair

Some tissues (to wipe your tweezers and put te plucked hair on)

Brow brush

My brow have been the same shape for years so I have a defined brow and it’s easy to see which hairs to remove.

If this isn’t a case you have a few options to start your shape.

1.To get you shape gets someone else to do the big job then just maintain at home
2.Use stencils. These can be place over the brow and coloured in the pluck out the hair that are not coloured in.

My favourites are by elf

3. Use the technical method.

Using a cutical stick or anything straight and mesure from the nose
Point (A) gives you the start of the brow
Point (B) gives you The arch point
Point (C) give you the end of the brow

Now we have decided on is method start plucking dont go to fast each hair can make the difference. Pluck a few hairs and stop look and plan you next move especial if you defining the shape or putting your arch in.

Once you happy your even and you have the shape you want it’s time to trim.

Start by taking a Brow brush and brush all the hair up and trim all the hair that sticks up above your brow line cut it off.

Trim all the hair above the brow line.

Brush back in to shape check you still even.

The Race for Life

I'm writing this post all tucked up in bed after a long day.

This morning it took part in wirral's Race for life held by cancer research UK in Birkenhead park.

This was a 5k Run, jog or walk around the park i did a mixture of walking and jogging which was hard going as I'm not one for running. But i did it and I'm very proud of myself and have reached my Target of a £100 so thank you to all who sponsored me.

armed with a bottle of water, inhaler and ipod i was ready to go.

my little boy joined in with the pre run warm up which gave the ladies around us a giggle as he copied and stretched his calves then he had to go to daddy to find a spec to watch.

( i later discovered they had ice cream and chips just after i set off )

As the race started my mind when blank and i just ran but as it got harder
and i had to slow down and catch a breath have a puff on the inhaler.

That's when the emotions hit

Thinking about the people i know and love and that i have lost to cancer

made it so hard to fight the tears back.

reading the names and reasons others were running

and was glad to see it wasn't only me welling up.

I ran for my friend jenny who inspires me she is a strong beautiful Lady who i was very proud to have her name on my back and gave me the push to keep running.

Then the finish line was in sight it was the last push

and this kicks in on my ipod

it made me leg it, got over the finish line and felt great my feet are red raw sore and covered in blisters

my lungs were burning but i felt amazing.

from their were funneled out were we receive are medals a pink bag with lots of samples and a fresh bottle of water.

i had done it

Bring on next year xxx

Everyone is affected by cancer weather its to ones self, family or friends it touches us all.

I will be running next year and hope to raise more money.

Half moon Manicure

I keep being asked how I paint my nails so her it is

You will need:

10 French Manicure stickers

Base and Top coat

Nail Polish (I use 2 different colours as it gives me the deep red I like)

Tweezers

Cotton wool buds

Nail polish Remover

cuticle pusher and cuticle remover (if cuticle the situations really bad)

Step 1:

Remove any old Nail Polish, File nails it to desired shape and push back and remove cuticles leaving the nail bed clean and clear.

Step 2:

Apply Base coat and wait for it to dry a little.

Step 3:

Using the french manicure strips to cover the half moon at the base of the nail

Like shown below

I use Tweezers and it stops the sticker losing its sticky Powers.

Step 4:

Apply a layer of Nail Polish

(as I use 2 the first colour i use is Avon Nailwear Pro Midnight Plum)

This makes the red i use a deeper colour

Allow that layer to dry a few seconds

Step 5:

Now Apply the second layer

(The second colour I use is Nail inc in a limited edition Chambord french martini)

I got it with a bottle Chambord

My favourite drink and nail varnish I'm a happy Little Lilly

Leave this layer a few minutes

Step 6:

Grab the manicure sticker with the tweezers and pull it back towards your hand

(not straight up as it may tear the dying Nail Polish)

Step 7:

Clean up any run away polish

Apply top coat and leave to dry completely
